Vikings Have Record Breaking Weekend


What a weekend it was for Viking Athletics. Records were broken, championships and games were won in every sport. 



The season’s first track meet officially isn’t until Wednesday, but that didn’t stop Samford Track Signee Titus Moore from competing in a meet along with fellow Viking Blaine Kizer at Landmark Christian Saturday afternoon.

Moore competed in the 110M Hurdles finishing the race with a time of 14.35 seconds and in the process broke the record set by Jonathan Raines, who now runs at UGA. The old record was 14.56 

Track has its first meet of the season Wednesday at home starting at 4:00  



Both FPD Tennis Teams won the Mid-Ga Invitational on Saturday in Cochran.  The girls won in the third-set tie breaker over Bleckley County , and the boys defeated West Laurens 4-1 to claim back-to-back Mid-Ga Invitational Champions.

Coach Lashley notched his 200th overall victory as the head coach of the program and Collier Griffin, Halen Fulk, and Camden Lashley remain undefeated for the season. They’ll be back on the court Tuesday afternoon at home against Mount De Sales. 



The annual Viking Cup took place over the course of last week and the Vikings Soccer Club enjoyed success throughout the week. The Lady Vikings outscored Putnam County, Strong Rock Christian and FPCA by a combined score of 29-0. They have yet to allow a goal on the season through four games.  

The Vikings completed the Viking Cup 2-0-1. They tied Putnam County 2-2 and won in PK 4-3.  They also defeated Strong Rock Christian 1-0 behind Henry Middlebrooks goal in the first half of play and FPCA 6-0. The Vikings currently are 2-1-1.  

Both teams return to the field Tuesday afternoon on the road at Manchester. Girls will kick-off at 5:30 and boys 7:30. 



The 8th ranked FPD Baseball team continued to find ways to win in dramatic fashion Saturday in the Tattnall Square Baseball Classic defeating the 4th ranked Holy Innocents Golden Bears 7-6. The Vikings were down 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th and tied the game at 6 with a double by Dalton Cox.

The Vikings would win the game when Michael Bakkar lined a ball past the third baseman with two-outs scoring Cox, from third to win the game. The Vikings would fall short to 5A South Forsyth 7-0 in the afternoon game.  


Currently they are 10-2 on the season and return to the diamond today against ELCA at 7:00pm



The FPD Golf team got the 2018 season off to a solid start this weekend in the UGA-Top 10 event in Athens winning with a low score of 305. Future Georgia Southern player Wilson Andress was also the low medalist at the event.

They return to the course on Tuesday afternoon at Jones County.


FPD Lacrosse traveled to Savannah on Friday afternoon and defeated Islands High 16-6 for the win. They improved to 3-1 on the season after Mays forfeited earlier in the week. They return to action at home Tuesday night against Starr’s Mill at 5:45.
