Lady Vikings Take On Lady Spartans in Championship Saturday


The Lady Vikings Soccer Club continued their season long dominance of their opponents and added their fourth playoff shutout by defeating the ninth ranked Calvary Day School Cavaliers 5-0. They are 22-0 and looking to close out the 2018 season undefeated with a championship. They have now outscored the opposing teams 168-6 for the entire season.

Entering the GHSA State Championship Match Saturday at noon against the Spartans of Athens Academy they have outscored their playoff opponents 21-0.  Athens Academy, who is ranked first in Class-A, enters the match Saturday with a record of 21-1-0. Their only loss of the season was to Jefferson 1-0 in late February.  The Spartans schedule included five playoff teams and they were 4-1 against those opponents outscoring them by a combined 21-6. On the season they outscored their opponents 138-11 who had an overall combined record of 167-187.

To get to the championship match the Spartans defeated Drew Charter (W10-0), Savannah Country Day (w 1-0), Mount Pisgah Christian (W 3-1) and Pinecrest Academy (W 1-0).

The Lady Vikings, who enter the championship match undefeated are ranked second behind Athens Academy have been even more dominant this season. They faced seven playoff teams in the regular season defeating all of them by a combined score of 32-3. The Lady Vikings also have four playoff shut-outs  outscoring their opponents 21-0.

To get here our Lady Vikings defeated Treutlen (10-0), Atlanta International (4-0), Wesleyan (2-0), and Calvary Day School (5-0).

Saturday’s match will be played at Mercer University at noon and will feature the top ranked teams in Class-A.  Tickets to the game are $12 at the gate or you can purchase them online.
