Lady Vikings Head To Columbus After Sweeping Hebron

The Lady Vikings Softball Team swept Hebron Christian yesterday in the GHSA Class-A Private Sweet 16 with a 5-run fifth inning in game one, three-home-runs in game two, and another dominating pitching performance.

The Lady Vikings took the lead early in game one in the bottom of the first inning when Senior Moe Register singled home Gabby Bosse and the score would remain that way until the bottom of the fifth when the Lady Vikings would score five to extend their lead making the score 6-0. They would go on to win game one by a score of 6-3.

In game two the Lady Vikings would use the long ball in the top of the first when Olivia Parker hit a two-run-homerun, which is her eighth of the season, to give an early 2-0 lead. In the top of the fourth Karsen Ochs would hit her eighth homerun of the season, which was a three-run-shot to extend the Lady Vikings lead to 6-0.  The Lady Vikings would score one more when Cassie Sutton hit an inside-the-park-homerun in the bottom of the fifth making the score 7-1.

Inside the circle South Carolina commit Karsen Ochs threw two complete games and only allowed five hits while striking out 22 Hebron hitters. Ochs now has 216 strikeouts on the season heading to Columbus for the Elite 8.

The girls return to the field next Thursday October 25 in Columbus and will face another Region 8A opponent George Walton at 11:00am.
