Head Coach Denny Bryant

Denny Bryant - Mugshot- CROPDenny Bryant begins his third year as head softball coach at FPD in 2018 and fifth year leading the FPD varsity baseball team in 2018.

In Bryant’s two years as head coach the Lady Vikings have appeared in the GHSA Class-A Private Final Four both  years.

In 2017, Bryant’s Vikings had a rebuilding season and still made the postseason. FPD finished at 13-15 and exited the first round of the GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament at the hands of Calvary Day School.

In 2016, Bryant led the Vikings to a 15-10 record and an appearance in the GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament. The Vikings would take no. 3 seeded George Walton Academy to three games before falling in the final half inning to end the season.

In 2015, Bryant stepped in after long-time head coach Jim Turner stepped down and made an immediate impact. Bryant’s Vikings finished the season at 18-6 and 8-4 in the ever-competitive GHSA Class-A Region-7.

His squad advanced to the 2015 GHSA Class-A State Tournament as well, before falling to Hebron Christian Academy in the opening round.

A familiar face in the community, Bryant has served as an assistant coach at Westside High School and Jones County High School, the latter under Greyhound head baseball coach and FPD basketball and baseball standout Barry Veal.

Bryant has an extensive background in the game, playing collegiality for Mercer University in 1998 and finishing his career at Valdosta State University from 1999-2002, where he earned his bachelors and masters degree.

Along with his baseball duties, Bryant will assist in the physical education department at the school.
